History

Opened 1949, jointly serving Seattle and Tacoma โ€” the source of the SeaTac portmanteau. Alaska Airlines' largest hub and a Delta transpacific gateway. The airport is unusual in serving as the lone major hub for two distinct regional pulls (the Seattle-area tech corridor and the Pacific Northwest more broadly), with no near-peer alternative within several hundred miles in the US.

More about this airport

About this profile

Reference data (codes, coordinates, elevation, runways, owner, opening date) is curated from each airport's official authority page, the FAA's airport reference system for US airports, NAV CANADA and Transport Canada for Canadian airports, and AFAC and the operating concessionaire for Mexican airports. Latest passenger figures are CY 2023 totals where confidently sourced.

Live METAR and TAF are fetched from NOAA's Aviation Weather Center on each page load. NOTAMs (US airports) are fetched from the FAA NOTAM Search. If a source is unreachable when this page loads, the corresponding section displays an "unavailable" message rather than a blank or stale value.

This data is re-verified on a recurring monthly cadence aligned to the FAA's NASR 28-day cycle.
