Sports

The scores.
The standings.

The fun side of the site, with footnotes. I tracked the 2026 World Cup matchday by matchday — every score exact, every table derived, every kickoff in Eastern time — and I called every match in public before it kicked off, which was either confidence or a mistake; the ledger says which. It’s a sealed record now, next to Qatar 2022 and Wimbledon. No odds, no betting content, ever. The jokes are free; the data is load-bearing.

Final record

Soccer

The 2026 World Cup, tracked matchday by matchday and now closed: Spain beat Argentina 1–0 after extra time in the New York/New Jersey final. Every fixture and result, all twelve group tables with the qualification lines drawn, the full knockout bracket, a per-match page for every game with my pick frozen on it before kickoff, and a printable wall chart filled in to the last row. The section’s first resident sport; others will join it here.

US Open 2026 · updated daily

Tennis

The US Open is under way. The main draw runs 30 August – 13 September and I refresh the cluster daily from the tournament’s own feeds — order of play, courts, who’s in the ESPN booth, and results as they land. Fan Week’s reformatted Mixed Doubles Championship is already in the books — Karolína Muchová and Jakub Menšík took the title — with a page for every match. Wimbledon 2026 and both 2025 majors sit alongside it, sealed and sourced now their last ball has been played.

Kickoff 9 September

Football

The NFL, kept as a plain year-round reference rather than an event that ends: when the season starts, how an 18-week calendar for 32 teams is built, and who is currently holding the trophy. Seattle beat New England 29–13 in Super Bowl LX and open the 2026 season against them again — on a Wednesday, because the league handed that Thursday to Melbourne and the first NFL regular-season game ever played in Australia. There is a countdown to kickoff on the page. The section’s third sport. No betting content, ever.
