Result
Lorenzo Sonego won the day's other five-set slugfest, taking a three-tiebreak battle from Canada's Gabriel Diallo 7-6(4) 4-6 7-6(4) 6-7(6) 6-2. The Italian served at 77% and won points at a better clip on both first and second serve, finishing with 180 points to Diallo's 165. Diallo, the big-serving Montrealer who came back from two sets down in round one, finally ran dry in a fifth set where Sonego's consistency (30 unforced errors to 42) settled it.
