World No. 1 Jannik Sinner edged Nuno Borges 7-6(4) 7-6(2) 6-4 on Centre Court, taken to a tiebreak in each of the first two sets before pulling clear. Borges, who beat Rafael Nadal for his maiden title in 2024, hung with the No. 1 from the baseline for an hour and a half; Sinner said afterwards there was still room to improve.
