At this Stage

Some match-ups simply refuse to change hands. Kateřina Siniaková beat Zheng Qinwen in the Wimbledon first round for the third time — 2023, 2025, and now 6-4 6-4 in 2026 — and did it the same stubborn way, saving all seven break points she faced while taking the only two she needed. Zheng, the 2024 Olympic champion and a former world No. 4 now well outside the top 100 after an elbow injury, out-hit the Czech 26 winners to 19 and still couldn't find the door. The 32nd seed advanced to an all-Czech second round against Nikola Bartůňková — where, this time, it was Siniaková's turn to run into a wall.
