Result
Daria Kasatkina recovered from a set down to beat Janice Tjen 6-7(5) 6-1 6-4 on Court 16, reaching the Wimbledon third round for a fourth straight year. Tjen edged a tight opening set but Kasatkina steadied, cutting her errors and finding winners from the back of the court and at the net across a two-hour-37-minute battle. Kasatkina converted five of eight break points to Tjen's two of ten.

At this Stage
Janice Tjen arrived as the story, her 6-1 7-6(3) upset of 22nd seed Leylah Fernandez having lit up the first round — and for a set she kept writing it, taking a tight opening tie-break. Then Daria Kasatkina, a three-set winner over wild card Mimi Xu in her opener, did what experience does: 6-7(5) 6-1 6-4 across two hours and 37 minutes, and a fourth straight year in the Wimbledon last 32. Tjen exits having reached the second round of a major for the third time; Kasatkina, a quarterfinalist here in 2018, moves on to meet 14th seed Naomi Osaka. The steadier hand won, as it usually does at this stage.
