Wimbledon: Champions
Pick any year
Who won each year?
The whole roll, one year at a time — slide, or step with the arrows, to any Open-Era year and meet its two champions. 2020 is missing because the Championships were not played.
A global game
Champions by nation
Historical nations are shaded on their present-day territory: West Germany on Germany — Boris Becker’s three titles and Steffi Graf’s first two — and Czechoslovakia (Jan Kodeš, 1973) on Czechia, alongside the Czech champions who followed it.
Teenagers to thirty-somethings
Youngest & oldest
Champions bunch in their twenties, but the record-holders live in the tails.
Grass has crowned teenagers and thirty-somethings alike. Boris Becker was 17 — still the youngest gentlemen’s champion in the tournament’s whole history, not just the Open Era — and Roger Federer’s 2017 win at 35 is the oldest of the Open Era. Ages are at the final.
