Cybersecurity Engineer - Infrastructure Management

No AI mention Muncie

Summary

A hands-on security engineer at First Merchants Bank protecting the bank's systems and network: managing firewalls, reviewing and remediating vulnerability assessments, encryption, and system and network access controls, working alongside IT and information security. Hybrid, with two days a week required at the Daleville Data Center — the bank says explicitly it wants candidates within commuting distance of Daleville, so this is an east-central Indiana role, not a remote one. The posting is a brief description only; expect the full duties in the interview.

Cybersecurity Automation Engineer

No AI mention Muncie

Summary

A security automation engineer at First Merchants Bank: designing, building and maintaining the automation that runs the bank's security operations — automating detection, response, validation and operational workflows across its security tools and platforms so that less of the work is manual. Hybrid with two in-office days a week at the Daleville Data Center, and the bank asks for candidates within commuting distance of Daleville. The posting is a brief description only; the toolset is not named.

Cybersecurity Engineer

No AI mention Muncie

Summary

Secures operational technology rather than corporate IT alone: designs, implements and supports cybersecurity controls across manufacturing and factory environments, industrial control systems including PLCs, HMIs and SCADA, and connected locomotive products. The work covers OT risk assessment and vulnerability analysis, incident response on OT assets in coordination with enterprise CSIRT, security architectures and standards aligned to IEC 62443 and NIST, and evaluation of passive network monitoring, asset discovery and segmentation tooling. The stated bar is extensive prior experience securing ICS, factory systems or plant networks inside a large enterprise, with technical consultation delivered directly to manufacturing sites on OT risk and compliance.

About this page

Every posting is classified into one of three AI buckets: AI required when the description names specific AI tools as required skills (GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor) or names LLM/agent/RAG/embeddings as core to the day-to-day; AI mentioned when the description mentions AI tooling in passing without it being the core skill; No AI mention when the description contains none of the relevant keywords. Each row shows the matched keyword evidence inline and surfaces named AI developer-productivity tools as expanded-row chips, so you can judge the signal for yourself.

The geographic filter is opinionated, and here it is deliberately one county wider than the official Muncie metro. Delaware County postings — Muncie (Ball State, IU Health Ball Memorial, First Merchants, Finvi) plus Yorktown, Daleville, Eaton, Gaston, Selma, Albany and the rest of the county — are always included and collapse to “Muncie.” So are postings across Madison County to the west, which is officially the separate Anderson metro: Anderson itself keeps its own label, as do Elwood, Alexandria, Pendleton, Chesterfield, Lapel, Frankton, Summitville, Markleville, Edgewood and Ingalls. I take Madison County here because a board for Delaware County alone would have a one-option Location filter and a one-pin map, and because Anderson — a city of 55,000 on I-69 — was not covered by any board at all. The rural counties east and north (Henry, Randolph, Blackford, Jay, Grant) are separate labor markets and intentionally out of scope, and Hamilton County on Madison’s western edge belongs to the Indianapolis board. Remote postings are included only when the employer also has a Muncie- or Anderson-area office — otherwise anywhere-in-the-US remote noise would swamp the page. Use the Location filter to narrow to a specific city.

This page is an independent aggregation. Mungomash is not affiliated with or endorsed by any of the employers listed. Application-status tracking and email alerts are out of scope. Per-posting salary ranges are surfaced inline when the employer discloses one — structured ATS fields first, JD-body prose as a fallback; rows with no disclosed range render no chip.

Recurring

Irregular daytime workshops, a few per year · in-person · Innovation Connector, Muncie

ai networking

The Muncie business incubator's AI-literacy track: short daytime workshops on using AI tools at work (Copilot for business writing, practical AI strategy sessions, an AI-strategy talk series), pitched at business owners and office staff rather than developers, and now run with a coaching partner. No technical background required — which makes it a starting point for a re-skiller and a networking room for the local business community, but not a place to meet engineers.

Annual events

Sep 10, 2026 · in-person · Horizon Convention Center, Muncie

startups networking

The east-central Indiana stop of IBJ's Innovate Indiana luncheon series: networking from 11:30, then a ninety-minute program with regional business, economic-development, university and startup leaders on business attraction, workforce pipelines and innovation. A ticketed business audience rather than a builders' meetup — useful for putting faces to the employers and institutions that run the Muncie and Anderson economy, not for learning a stack.

Global Game Jam at Ball State

annual beginner-friendly

Annual, the last weekend of January (Friday 5 PM to Sunday 5 PM) · in-person · Robert Bell Building, Room 353 (Game Production Studio), Ball State University, Muncie

gamedev design web

Ball State's site for the worldwide 48-hour Global Game Jam: teams form on Friday evening around the shared theme, build a game over the weekend in the Computer Science department's game production studio, and show it on Sunday. Open to anyone, not just students — the 2025 jam drew more than forty people and shipped eight playable games, the second-largest site in Indiana. The one recurring event in the metro where you will sit next to working game and software developers for a weekend.

Symposium on Games

annual beginner-friendly

Biennial (odd years), a Friday in mid-November · in-person · L.A. Pittenger Student Center, Ball State University, Muncie

gamedev design networking

A free one-day games conference on the Ball State campus, run every other year since 2015: morning hands-on workshops (paper prototyping, card-game symbol design, textures and normal maps), an afternoon keynote, refereed paper talks from Ball State, Anderson University, Miami and DePaul faculty, and a demo hall where student and indie teams show playable builds. Academic in origin but built for practitioners and students alike; no registration fee.

Early stage

DANNAR

seed All-electric mobile power and work platforms

founded 2011 · 25-50 people · Muncie, IN

hardware cleantech robotics defense automotive iot

Builds the Mobile Power Station, a 13,000-pound four-wheel-drive battery platform on BMW lithium-ion packs that is driven from a cab, by remote or autonomously, runs hydraulic and electric work attachments, and doubles as a 500 kWh mobile microgrid — sold to municipalities (the Muncie Sanitary District was an early customer), utilities and the military, with AFWERX and Army energy-resilience work behind it. Designed and assembled at its Muncie headquarters and plant; the software side is vehicle controls, the SAFEMAN safety system and remote operation rather than a SaaS product. Won a Sourcewell cooperative contract in January 2026 and a Construction Equipment Top 100 Products spot for 2025.

Vizi Courseware

seed Interactive courseware and BCBA exam prep

founded 2012 · 1-10 people · Muncie, IN

edtech saas

A 2012 Muncie edtech whose interactive, multimodal courseware platform is now in its third generation and has narrowed its market to behavior-analyst (BCBA) exam preparation sold to universities and clinics, plus a handful of self-learning courses. The site is current and the product is live, but everything about the company is small and quiet.

Accutech Systems (Cheetah)

growth Trust and wealth-management accounting software

founded 1987 · 150-250 people · Muncie, IN

fintech saas enterprise ai

Family-owned since 1987 and headquartered in downtown Muncie, Accutech builds Cheetah, a browser-based trust and wealth-management accounting platform used by community banks and trust companies nationwide, plus the Moneytree financial-planning software it acquired. TechPoint named it Indiana's Tech Company of the Year (under 500 employees) in 2025 and it has made the Inc. fastest-growing lists repeatedly. Bootstrapped, product-led, and the largest software engineering org that is genuinely based in the metro.

Finvi (formerly Ontario Systems)

growth Receivables and collections workflow software

founded 1980 · 200-500 people · Muncie, IN

fintech healthtech saas payments enterprise ai

The company that was Ontario Systems for four decades: collections and revenue-cycle workflow platforms (Velosidy, Artiva HCx, Katabat, Simplicity) sold to collection agencies, hospital revenue-cycle teams and first-party lenders, now shipping AI features for denial intelligence and voice. Owned by New Mountain Capital since 2019 and rebranded Finvi in 2021; it sold its state-and-local-government division to Avenu in 2022. Still the biggest software name associated with Muncie, but its open engineering roles post as Remote, US, so treat it as a remote-first employer with Muncie roots rather than a downtown engineering floor.

PASS Training & Compliance

growth Fuel-storage compliance and training software

founded 2008 · 10-50 people · Muncie, IN

compliance saas edtech cleantech

Practical American Safety Solutions grew out of the 2005 Energy Policy Act's underground-storage-tank operator-training mandate into one of the country's largest UST operator-training providers, and has since built a cloud compliance suite (its products now go by Harmonics, Symphonics and Opus) for fuel retailers, service providers, fleets and municipalities that track tank inspections and regulatory deadlines. A small, bootstrapped, regulation-driven SaaS shop that has stayed in Muncie for close to two decades.
