How it went

The season's first game abroad and the Chargers made the flight worth it. Justin Herbert threw for 318 yards and three touchdowns — two of them to Quentin Johnston — and Los Angeles led wire to wire at Arena Corinthians, 27–21. Kansas City never trailed by more than ten and never caught up: Patrick Mahomes ran for a score and found Travis Kelce from 37 yards to cut it to two early in the fourth, then watched Herbert answer with the 23-yarder to Johnston. Neither side turned it over; the difference was third down (7-for-13 to 5-for-14) and a Chargers offense that finished drives. São Paulo's crowd of 47,627 saw the Chiefs start the season 0–1, on a Friday night, on another continent.
