How it went

The defending champions went out at home to a game that turned on a wide receiver's arm: Jauan Jennings threw a 29-yard touchdown to Christian McCaffrey eight seconds into the fourth quarter for 17–16, San Francisco's first lead since the first quarter. Philadelphia answered with Jake Elliott's 33-yarder, and Brock Purdy — two touchdowns, two interceptions — answered that with the four-yard flip to McCaffrey with 2:54 left. Eddy Pineiro missed the extra point; it did not matter. Saquon Barkley ran for 106 and Jalen Hurts threw for 168, which is the Eagles' offense in one line. Demarcus Robinson had 111 yards receiving. 23–19, and the Linc went quiet.
