Result
Tabilo saved three break points in his opening service game on Court 6, broke immediately and had the first set inside half an hour; eight consecutive points opened the second, and that took twenty-nine minutes. Then he tried to finish the match before the rain and lost an hour to it — Hanfmann produced his best game of the afternoon to break for the first time and took the third-set tiebreak 9-7. "I rushed, I wanted to close the set out as fast as possible," Tabilo said afterwards. "It is very complicated to come back after rain." He broke again in the sixth game of the fourth and served it out to a loud Chilean section he went along and thanked afterwards. It is a first US Open second round for Tabilo since 2022. Hanfmann, 34, has now lost all fifteen of his Grand Slam matches against top-fifty opponents, and failed for the fourth time to get out of the first round here.
