Nine service games, nine holds, and not one break point conceded. Swiatek opened the evening session on Louis Armstrong and was 3-1 up before Wang had settled; a forehand long ended the first set. Wang took a break after it and came back with the same tactics — deep, heavy topspin, and a stretch of genuinely long rallies that got her a break point of her own — before a crosscourt forehand gave Swiatek the decisive break in the eighth game of the second.
