Result
The top seeds did it the hard way one more time — only this time without the fifth-set jeopardy. Heliövaara and Patten had won all three of their earlier matches in a final-set tiebreak; against the alternates Kokkinakis and Kovacevic they went the distance again, two tiebreak sets and not a single break of serve all afternoon, but banked both, 7-6(2) 7-6(8). The first breaker they ran away with; the second they survived after it drifted to 8-8. Kokkinakis and Kovacevic actually out-aced them, 15 to 11, but the No. 1 pair were the cleaner team when it counted — nine unforced errors to twelve — and edged the total points 89-85 in 2 hours 9 minutes on No.1 Court. Into the final they go, against Arévalo and Pavić.

Harri Heliövaara and Henry Patten are into the men's doubles final, the No. 1 seeds coming through 7-6(2) 7-6(8) over the alternates Thanasi Kokkinakis and Aleksandar Kovacevic. It was the fitting way for this pair to reach the last act: no break of serve all match, both sets settled in a tiebreak, a run now built almost entirely on holding nerve at the death. Kokkinakis and Kovacevic had knocked out the No. 12 and No. 14 seeds as unheralded alternates, but the top seeds' calm on the biggest points held. They meet Arévalo and Pavić — 7-6(8) 6-2 winners over Krawietz and Pütz — for the title on Saturday.
