Finnish qualifier Otto Virtanen produced the biggest upset of the tournament so far, saving a match point to stun fourth seed Ben Shelton 6-4 3-6 6-7(8) 6-2 7-6(9) on No. 2 Court. Virtanen saved the match point at 8-9 in the deciding 10-point tie-break before converting his own after a Shelton forehand went wide, ending a four-hour, 21-minute battle. It was the biggest win of Virtanen's career, and he became the first Finnish man in the Open Era to defeat a top-five Grand Slam seed. Total points won finished level at 180 apiece.
