At this Stage
Mananchaya Sawangkaew is making a Wimbledon debut look like routine. The Thai qualifier had already upset 20th seed Maja Chwalińska from a set down, 2-6 7-5 6-2; here she edged a tight first set against Alycia Parks and then handed out a bagel in which the American won just 11 points, closing it 7-5 6-0. Parks, a 6-3 6-3 winner over wild card Alicia Dudeney in round one, simply unravelled. The debutante's route now runs steeply uphill — tenth seed Karolína Muchová in the last 32 — but a player who came through qualifying was never supposed to still be here, and that has yet to bother her.
