Result
The 17th seed Frances Tiafoe dropped the first set to Britain's Jan Choinski before finding his range to win 4-6 6-2 7-5 6-2 on No.2 Court. Choinski hung with him on winners and out-served him for aces, but converted just one of twelve break points to Tiafoe's five of eleven — the American simply cashed his chances. After the early wobble Tiafoe lost only six games across the final three sets to reach the third round.

At this Stage
For a set, the home crowd had its story. Jan Choinski — a straight-sets winner over Vít Kopřiva in round one — took the opener off Frances Tiafoe before the No. 17 seed remembered which of the two converts break points for a living, running out a 4-6 6-2 7-5 6-2 winner. Tiafoe, a four-set winner over Térence Atmane first up, has now twice dropped a set and twice rendered it a footnote. The British interest on this court goes home; the American goes on to a last-32 meeting with No. 10 seed Alexander Bublik, where slow starts, at this stage, stop being free.
